Scottdale Heros Hometown Banner Program

The Scottdale Heroes Hometown Banner Program Committee is pleased to announce its Hometown Heroes Banner Project for 2022.  This project is a tribute to our local military and non-military heroes, including first responders and hometown contributors (Fire Department, EMT’s, public servants, etc.) who have selflessly served our country and/or our community.

Guidelines

Eligibility
1. Active, retired, deceased, or honorably discharged members of the five United States Armed Forces service branches (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy).

2. A current or past first responder, public servant, or contributor from the borough.

A high-resolution digital image (minimum 300 dpi) in jpeg format OR a 5×7 (minimum) photograph of honoree in
official uniform. (with no objects).  Electronic images can be sent to [email protected]

The committee will make every attempt to return original photos to the owners, but it is not guaranteed.

Application and Sponsorship
A written application for placement of a Hero banner must be completed on a form provided by the Scottdale Heroes Committee.

Final cost will be determined by total amount of banners plus any private donations to the program. Applicants will be advised of the final cost before banner is produced. The cost of the banner will not exceed $128.

Banner Locations
The borough has designated the light poles on Broadway, Spring, Pittsburgh, and Chestnut streets as the initial
location for this program. Future locations may be identified by the borough at a later date depending on the
demand.

All banner locations shall be determined solely by the Borough of Scottdale.

Display Period
Because of limited pole availability, banners will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Installation of the banners is being planned to coincide with the annual Memorial Day program for 2022 and will remain in place until August 31, 2022.  They will then be removed to protect them from inclement winter weather and will be hung again the following spring to increase their life span.

In addition to the streetlight pole banners, the committee will also display the banners images on the Scottdale Online website (scottdaleonline.com) for year-round display.

** In addition, garden flags that match the banners are available for personal use in your yard or elsewhere at a cost of $15.

Waiver and Limitations
The Borough of Scottdale is not responsible for replacing banners that are stolen, damaged, or destroyed due to age, vandalism, or any acts of nature, including high winds.

Any loss or damage to an installed banner will be handled at the discretion of the borough.

The borough reserves the right to not install a banner if the requirements of this banner program are not met.

2022 submissions have been closed.

Thank-you for your support of this tribute to our veterans, first responders, and public servants.
